March is a month for basketball, best known for its NCAA "March Madness" college ball tournament and the loads of money people bet on their game result brackets. Basketball is a pretty big deal in my family, but not just to follow on TV. Both my brothers and I have played on basketball teams at one time or another and Ryan (aka Ryan the Lion), my youngest brother, lives and breathes the sport. Aside from playing whenever he gets a chance, he started coaching a church league girl's team this winter, aptly naming them the "Lions." My 11 year-old cousin, "Mika" (#5 green) was on his team as well. Yesterday, March 20th, was their final game. Ryan, who stepped on a nail Friday and was therefore fighting an infection and a lot of pain, insisted on coaching his last game with the girls. The Lions teamed up with a couple of the Mercury girls (white jerseys) so they would have enough members to play. Though they lost, the girls put up a pretty good fight against the toughest girl's team in the league, the Sparks. The lighting in the gym was terrible, but here are some of the best photos from Sunday. :)
