Senior Portrait Session: Brianna

In early August, I did my second giveaway portrait session with Brianna, a high school senior from Portland, Oregon. Brianna is sort of my cousin (her aunt by blood is mine by marriage), though we hadn't seen each other since she was a toddler! She was down in Orange County visiting some family and friends for a few weeks, so we met up one day in the early evening at a beautiful park in Brea.

Brianna is artsy and absolutely LOVES photography, so naturally a photo with her and her camera was a must!
After we had taken some photos in a beautiful nature setting, we drove over to downtown Fullerton for a more urban feel. Walking around downtown, we found some really awesome backdrops and colorful buildings that we both loved! Brianna was especially fond of the colorful mural-ed wall in the last photograph. :)

I had a great time getting to know Brianna! She is so beautiful and such a sweetheart! Brianna wants to go to college in Australia and major in International Relations so she can travel and experience other cultures.
Have a fantastic senior year, Brianna! I know it will be full of amazing memories!

Senior Portrait Session: Hannah

Last Monday I met with Hannah in downtown Redlands in the late afternoon for a senior portrait session. Hannah was the first of three seniors who won my senior portrait session giveaway this last month! She and I strolled around downtown Redlands and found some cool backdrops for photos while she and I talked about her senior year and beyond. Hannah is a student at my alma mater, LLA, so she and I had a lot to discuss! DT Redlands was HOT, but Hannah was a great sport. Here are some of the photos we took in town. Isn't her smile radiant? Absolutely beautiful!

Aside from being beautiful and an excellent student (something I have on good authority), Hannah is also athletic and has played varsity softball and JV basketball at LLA. To capture her sporty side, we headed to an open field just down the road. There, Hannah proudly showed off her softball jersey and letterman jacket!

Hannah plans on majoring in broadcast journalism so she can combine her love for photography, television, and writing! Enjoy your senior year, Hannah, and best of luck in all your endeavors! I know you'll do GREAT! :)

MAY I Catch Up, Please? ;)

Whew! May has been such a busy and intense month!!! I've been finishing classes, moving to a new residence, doing photoshoots, editing photos, and so much more! I apologize that my busyness has resulted in a lack of blog posts! Now to play catch up for the month of May! This is going to be a LONG post! ;)

The first weekend of this month, I was hired to photograph a charity event in Riverside benefiting La Sierra Academy--the La Sierra Ladies Tea! It was absolutely delightful! Each table had its own unique set up for the tea/luncheon, some of which were quite fun and over-the-top. And the competitive auction toward the end of the event was lively and thoroughly entertaining (especially when the puppy was being auctioned off)! Below are just a few of my favorite photos from that afternoon.

The next weekend, I found myself in Long Beach photographing a bridal shower. The bride, Ashley, wore the most adorable L.W.B. ("little white dress)! The party was beautiful, the food amazing (Buca di Beppo... yuuuum!), and the games were hilarious. It was such an honor to be part of Ashley's special day, a beautiful celebration of a bride-to-be! Here are a few of my favorite photographs of the shower.

*Next post will be completely devoted to the AMAZING newborn session I got to do this month! With as much as I love babies, it definitely deserves its own post! ;)*

Some Fun with Color and Monochrome

While I love vivid color and great contrast, as do most of my clients, I also love to play around with color and monochrome in my photography. Editing digitally allows me to have way too much fun figuring out exactly what color tones, hues, and shadow play I want in my photographs. The last week or so, I've been playing around with various monochrome and Polaroid looks in my photos. Here are a few examples. What do you think? :)
